vinyl, vinyl, and more vinyl
I am now the proud owner of a whole &%$# load of vinyl, and its so pretty!!! Which i now have listed on etsy, well just one listing. I wanted to show what can be made...and super easy.
First I wanted something cute to put on the outside..so the easiest and fastest for me to draw was bones and hearts!!
Here are my scraps, the pouch measures about 6" long by 4" tall...so minimal vinyl was used!! I was a bit nervous with my singer, which is a very basic machine, but it took it like a pro and didn't fuss or break a needle.

my new love affair
As I was poking around in my numerous catalogs, I found a company that made the most fabulous patterns...sublime stitiching.... but they were for embroidery, which I have never tried, so I read the blog and some of the tutorials and thought I could do this too. Now its like crafting crack to me, in a week I have done at least 5 different things, and am patiently waiting for more patterns in the mail...which I will now offer in my store...maybe on etsy maybe not.
I can't tell you how easy this is.....and how much fun, now I don't feel bad in front of the tv anymore.
This is my very first one, kinda my sample of stitches with some free hand action!!!
Number two!!!!
I finished this one the same night I did the birds.
I got tired of flowers!!! I wanted more funk.
My favorite, I actually did the brain last night with an eyeball!!

my tester bag...so excited
I am doing my first sewing class today, I normally have someone else come in and do it, so I can still work. But its my turn now. I normally don't use patterns and just make them up myself, I had a request for a bag with a flap/strap and more... So I did a mini tester...here it is

im totally bored...so here is a show and tell
oh the amazing things you can do with fabric.... this is my sewing area in my shoppe, in the before picture there was this funky black I wanna be velvet but I was to cheap to pass, from the previous frame shoppe.
I was too lazy to paint, I have painted enough this last year, that I can still smell the fumes if I think real hard. After that fabulous-ness was removed I was ready to go...liquid starch in various application methods...spray bottle, spray from the can, and the full on paint set up ( roller and tray).
I found using multiple methods kept me from cursing up a storm and saved my arms... the easiest way to do this is tack the fabric a inch more than what you need to the wall (both top and bottom..until you get to know your weapons, fabric and starch).
Then get a good spray under the top of the fabric, then start rolling, spraying, rolling, spraying and so forth till you finish the first piece...then cut and move to the next piece... then wah lah in a few hours you have everything done and have to wait for it to dry...then if you have bubbles break out the spray and go over the bubbles that didn't love you.... if you are brave and have a big ladder, take a razor blade and cut the top off to make an even line. which i wasn't able to acheive, but i think it gives it a nice ...nobody is perfect look!!!
then admire and tell everyone how eco friendly you are...and how you can remove the fabric when you are sick of looking at it, wash it and find another use!!!!
good luck

stripes, my new love affair
my new baby using alexander henry's lorenza line in nude
mod dot for the binding, lorenza stripe for the borders and squares, piccolo for the borders .
great fun to make, but was really like a puzzle...I ended up not using a lot of the triangles.
not all of them were perfect...but what the eff
my first intention was not using a border, but it wasn't wide enough for my liking..hence the border and the stripes.
I also thought it was good to show where the squares came from.
all together before the batting and the bottom
and the quilt complete, my intent was to sell this, but I totally jacked up the back when I was quilting...damn minky fabric....

patchwork pillow with patricia bravo
for my little pillow I choose fabrics from art gallery's spell bound line....
i choose to do a very simple pattern, so I could get it done quick but still wanted something pretty.
the back
and the front stuffed with a pillow
me trying to get both the back and the front....I had to use snaps for the back because I cut the fabric a bit to short for it to cover with the pillow bludging a bit

Tote-alicius
here is my new tote...made with ikea fabric, I have to say I have never used ikea fabrics before....and all I can say is that they feel a bit cheap...but the design is fabulous. I learned a new sewing trick that I will have to do a demo on....it is how to do a bottom in a bag...I almost wanted to kick myself that I had never figured it out on my own....considering I have been sewing for years.
I made this bag reversible..and I now have a love affair with stripes...I am more of a polka dot girl.
